MALIBU - At least a hundred kids from across Los Angeles County spent the day surfing, learning about the ocean environment and engaging with their state representatives in a whole new way at State Senator Henry Stern's Inaugural Surf Summit.

The event was the brainchild of Senator Stern who engaged the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Malibu, West San Gabriel Valley, West Valley, and Variety Boys & Girls Club to participate and shuttle their members out to Zuma Beach for the summit.




SACRAMENTO – Senator Henry Stern released the following statement regarding the Senate’s passage of the 2017-18 state budget: 

“California's economy is surging, and while we could have spent more, this budget shows restraint.  Given the chaos in Washington, and inevitability of future downturns in the economy, bolstering the rainy day fund to $12 billion and reducing long-term pension liabilities makes good fiscal sense,” stated Senator Henry Stern.




SACRAMENTO – Today, State Senator Henry Stern’s SB 57 stalled today on the Senate Floor, falling three votes shy of the two-thirds threshold required to pass it on an urgency basis.

SACRAMENTO – Today, Chairmen of the Senate and Assembly Elections Committees, State Senator Henry Stern and Assemblymember Marc Berman issued a joint statement condemning President Trump’s latest Executive Order announcing a commission to investigate voter fraud. Meanwhile Trump’s own Administration is under active FBI investigation.




SACRAMENTO – Today, State Senator Henry Stern’s SB 756, which would provide restitution for mental health services to young sexual abuse victims, was unanimously approved by the Senate. The bill now heads to the Assembly for consideration.




SACRAMENTO – Last Friday State Senator Henry Stern, along with Senator Bob Hertzberg, and members of the Valley Economic Alliance, visited several local businesses throughout the San Fernando Valley to seek input about innovative ways to bring jobs to and elevate the economic vitality of the region.
